Getting around Paris
Paris has two main airports: Charles de Gaulle (CDG), about 25 km out, linked to the centre by the RER B train, and Orly (ORY), about 18 km out, served by the Orlyval to the RER B or the Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau. In the city the Métro is dense and cheap, and by far the best way to get around.
Where to stay in Paris
- Le Marais — Historic, chic district with galleries, boutiques, cafés and the Place des Vosges.
- Latin Quarter — Student and bohemian area by the Sorbonne, full of bookshops and bistros.
- Montmartre — The Sacré-Cœur hill, cobbled streets and an artistic atmosphere.
- Saint-Germain-des-Prés — Elegant Left Bank of literary cafés and refined shops.
How much does it cost?
Paris is one of Europe’s pricier capitals, especially for lodging and charming restaurants. A mid-range budget runs about 110–200 USD a day excluding flights, though bakeries and free-entry museum days help keep costs down.
Is it safe?
Paris is safe for tourists, but pickpockets are very skilled around the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Champs-Élysées and the Métro. Keep an eye on bags and phones, and be wary of distractions and scams in the busiest spots.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Paris
When is the best time to fly to Paris?+
Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) bring pleasant weather and thinner crowds. For better prices avoid summer and Christmas, book ahead, and fly midweek to trim the fare.
How long is the flight to Paris?+
About 10 h 30 min nonstop from Mexico City and around 10 h 30 min from Bogotá. Paris is one of Europe’s major air hubs.
